In MusicBee, it's in Preferences > Library > "scan on startup only" / "continuously monitor" there, you'll be able to add the network location at which the files are located to the list of monitored folders. The new files and metadata will then be updated either continuously or when the program starts. You can set MusicBee (and most feature-rich music players) to check a set library folder or folders. I'm pretty positive this is metadata as well, so no worries there.Īnd also to add in any new content that may have been acquired. What you might not be able to get is a history per device, or some "Continue listening on another device" feature a la Spotify. This is the one I was the least sure of, but apparently, this and the play count can be stored in the metadata: source. What you have to make sure of is that those fields are correctly read / updated when playing the music on other devices. As long as you stay in MusicBee with similar settings, you'll be good. If you manage to store all the info in the files metadata, you'll be able to sync most of everything I think this is your best bet. I've seen from previous articles that I'm not the only one to have wanted to achieve this - has anyone found any particularly clever ways of achieving it? I had looked at the Sync feature within Musicbee but it doesn't seem to support what I want to achieve Also, things like track rating and play counters wouldn't be synced across devices. Deleting media from one device would result in it being removed from all devices but without the library db being updated on the other machines. The real problem I can see is how to sync the settings and library database across devices. Syncing the actual media files should be fairly easy I think - using something like NextCloud should be very easy and so long as all my copies of Musicbee use the same rules for organising the local media files, the sync should only need to take care of adding new media for the other MusicBee instances to detect. I need to have the media stored locally on each machine. As the laptop often leaves the home with me, having them all point to the same media folder on the server isn't an option. I have a main server, a desktop and a laptop client. I have a few Windows 10 machines and I'd like to be able to have some sort of sync between them of my Musicbee library and things like track ratings etc.
